David S. Gast David S. Gast founded his San Francisco architecture firm in 1980 and is a licensed architect in California and Hawaii. Through the years, David has evolved the firm into a studio environment of innovative minds with high levels of knowledge and craftsmanship. His professional and personal experiences continue to drive his interest in investigating ways to improve the organization of space, while always considering the realities that exist with the building process.
Prior to establishing Gast Architects, David’s professional experience includes work with the San Francisco Community Design Center, Marquis & Stoller Architects, and Richard Gryziec, Architect/Planner. David was also a partner in Keystone Builders, a design/build general contractor in San Francisco that specialized in residential projects, and moderate-scale commercial and educational buildings.
David is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Foundation for San Francisco’s Architectural Heritage, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and is NCARB certified. During his spare time, he enjoys kayaking, hiking and exploring his urban environment.
Team The Gast Architects team is comprised of a talented group of individuals whose past experience includes carpentry, furniture-making and serving as licensed general contractors as well as architectural designers. Our design professionals consistently seek to maintain a high bar of excellence for intelligent design development, exceptional project management, dependable execution of essential design details and materials, and a strong commitment to environmentally responsible design practices. Several in our team are licensed architects and LEED accredited professionals.
